About

Emerald specialises in capturing live events with a run-and-gun style, and editing footage into dynamic and engaging videos optimised for social media platforms.

Working within the Arts, Emerald has positioned herself to work with independent artists, non-profits and government organisations. She recognises the power of video as a tool for communication and is passionate about using her role as videographer to support and showcase emerging creatives from marginalised communities.

Emerald has worked on a wide range of projects including live performances, interviews, tutorials, festival aftermovies, documentaries, promotional and fundraising videos, and print media campaigns. She has acted as project manager for several Melbourne Minute community arts projects in collaboration with Creative Victoria and Merri-bek City Council.

Our curation of lofi hip hop beats in collaboration with 39 local producers including Plutonic Lab, Thrupence, Sadiva, Motley, Elle Shimada and DJ Rellik. Funded by Merri-bek council.

Career bio

 

In 2017 Emerald and artist manager Kim Williamson launched Melbourne Minute, a creative agency focused on the local Arts sector.

In 2018 Emerald lectured for the Bachelor of Applied Business at Box HiIl Institute, teaching social media for music business.

She also produced hip hop show The Scenario on community radio station Kiss FM, hosted by award-winning music photographer Michelle Grace Hunder (Rise Up, Her Sound Her Story), and music journalist Sosefina Fuamoli.

In 2019 she became the Melbourne coordinator for youth mentoring program ‘Sound Foundations’ with Musicians Making A Difference, with whom she has been a mentor since 2016.

In 2020 Emerald launched Melbourne lofi hip hop radio, a 24/7 stream of beats by local producers. The project featured submissions from 39 artists and was supported by Merri-bek City Council.

She also released a documentary about music festival Twisted Frequency and shot a documentary exploring Melbourne musicians in lockdown, with support from Creative Victoria.

In 2021 in response to COVID-19 lockdown Emerald pivoted into live streaming. She collaborated with DJ collective Vinyl Vixens and Creative Victoria to launch an event series called ‘Lets Talk About Decks’, featuring live streamed performances by 60 female and non-binary DJs. The series ran for 6 months in multiple live music venues across Melbourne.

She also worked on a range of projects supporting young, elderly and those with disabilities for organisations including The Drum Youth Services, Yarra Youth Services, Nexus Circus and NDIS.

In 2022 Emerald began working for Footscray Community Arts Centre. She conducted an interview with Julian Assange’s father, John Shipton, for Russian TV Channel NTV, ahead of the UK court extradition ruling. She filmed an online music business course for music networking app Vampr.

She was also a recipient of Merri-Bek City Council’s ‘Making Space’ grant, through which she set up a temporary studio space at Siteworks and created content with Merri-bek-based creatives.

Emerald is currently delivering a livestream series with theatre company Western Edge Youth Arts to stream discussions with actors and emerging cultural leaders about their work and experiences in the industry.
